Joint Tactical Team
The Greenfield Police Department is an active participant of the Hancock County Joint Tactical Team (JTT). This JTT is trained in tactical maneuvers designed to minimize danger to officers and citizens in situations such as high risk warrant service or hostage situations. The team consists of members from multiple Hancock County Law Enforcement agencies and the Greenfield Fire Territory. The team also employs several Hostage Negotiators

K-9 Unit
Our Department has 3 canines. Eragon is a 12 year old Belgian Malinois and is assigned to Detective Borgmann in the Investigations Unit. Ace is a 5 year old Belgian Malinois and is assigned to Patrolman Freeman on B-Squad Night shift. Matrix is a 5 year old Belgian Malinois and is assigned to Patrolman Kalk on B-Squad Day shift. Each canine and handler train several hours each month to stay proficient in their respective areas of narcotics and patrol work.

D.A.R.E.
The Greenfield Police Department is committed to educating students with curriculum from D.A.R.E. America.  Patrolman Williams is our D.A.R.E. officer who teaches classes with fifth grade students in Greenfield Central Schools and St. Michael’s School and provides a personal connection between law enforcement and students in the hope that they will make healthy decisions and remain drug and alcohol free. Community Relations
Patrolman Williams is also our Community Relations and Parking Enforcement Officer. When he is not teaching, Patrolman Williams patrols and enforces parking restrictions in the downtown area and other areas around the City. Patrolman Williams is available to speak about community issues for organizations and businesses upon request.

Project Lifesaver
We have partnered with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department to provide our community with life-saving technology to assist in locating those most vulnerable. Project Lifesaver is a program for children/adults with developmental disorders and adults with Alzheimer ’s disease or dementia. Those who cannot be left alone wear a small tracking device so they are quickly and safely located if they go missing. Want to learn more? Visit www.projectlifesaver.org.

Traffic Safety
We also have an officer dedicated to Traffic Safety; studying traffic patterns and local problem areas in the effort to improve driving conditions within the City of Greenfield.
