Private Water Line Insurance

Residents of Greenfield,

We have become aware of companies that are offering insurance on the water service lines leading from the City connection to your home. These parties have printed information on their mailing advertisements that may give the impression that the City is a participant of the insurance offer. The City of Greenfield is in no way associated with and does not endorse any insurance program. The Water Utility has the responsibility for the connection from the water main to 4ft beyond the meter pit. After that 4ft the property owner is then responsible and must make any repairs necessary on that line. We would advise that anyone wishing to participate in an insurance program for their water service lines be informed and research the offer properly before proceeding.
