Fire Prevention Bureau
Welcome to the Fire Inspection Division
The Fire Prevention Division is headed up by Fire Marshal Steve Kropacek who has over 25 years of experience.
Our Mission:
The Fire Inspection Division is dedicated to ensuring the safety of our community by enforcing fire codes, conducting inspections, and providing education to prevent fire hazards. We work diligently to protect lives, property, and the environment through comprehensive fire prevention efforts.
What We Do
• Fire Safety Inspections:
We conduct routine fire safety inspections for commercial, and industrial properties. Our goal is to ensure compliance with local, state, and national fire codes to minimize fire risks.
• Code Enforcement:
Our team ensures that all buildings, new constructions, and renovation projects meet established fire codes and standards. This includes fire alarm systems, sprinkler installations, and emergency exits.
• Fire Prevention Education:
We offer educational programs for businesses, schools, and residents to help reduce the likelihood of fire hazards. Our fire safety experts provide guidance on safe practices and fire prevention tips.
Important Requirements
To ensure compliance with fire safety standards, property owners and managers may be required to submit certain documentation related to fire protection systems. These include:
1. 90-Minute Emergency Lighting Affidavit:
As part of fire code compliance, properties equipped with emergency lighting systems must fill out and submit a 90-minute Emergency Lighting Affidavit to confirm that their emergency lighting systems have been tested and functioned for the required duration during a power outage.
2. Audible Announcement Affidavit:
In buildings with public spaces or areas requiring an audible fire alarm system, an Audible Announcement Affidavit must be submitted. This affidavit confirms that the audible alarm system provides clear and intelligible announcements, ensuring that occupants are informed and can safely evacuate during an emergency.
How to Submit:
To submit these affidavits, please complete the necessary forms available on our website or contact our office directly for assistance. These documents must be submitted on time to avoid delays in your fire safety compliance process.
